Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina
Jolie Voight, (born on the 4th of June, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, U.S.),
American actor and director renowned for her sex appeal and edginess as well as
for her humanitarian work. Jolie was awarded an Academy Award for her
supporting role as a mental patient in Girl, Interrupted (1999).Jolie, daughter
of actor Jon Voight, spent much of her youth in New York before relocating to
Los Angeles at age 11. She was a student at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film
Institute for two years. She then enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. Then,
she pursued a degree in drama at New York University. Alongside acting in
theatre productions, she modeled and appeared in music videos.Jolie's first big
film role was in Hackers (1995) in the filming process, she became engaged to
her first husband British actor Jonny Lee Miller (married 1996; divorced 1999).
As with several subsequent films, Hackers did not attract a crowd. Jolie was
the segregationist spouse of Alabama's governor. She received lots of attention
in 1997. She later received an Golden Globe Award. She played the role of a
supermodel who struggles with drug addiction in the HBO film Gia in 1999. Her
performance was rewarded with numerous awards including the Golden Globe Award
and Screen Actors Guild Award. After her Oscar-winning performance in Girl,
Interrupted, Jolie was in Pushing Tin, a comedy featuring John Cusack, Billy
Bob Thornton and in 2003 she was divorced. In Gone in Sixty Seconds ((2000)),
she played the role of Nicole Cage's lover. She later took on an accent that
resembled a British accent and learned kickboxing and street fighting to play
the roles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider (2003) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The
Cradle of Life (2004). In 2004, she played the mother of Alexander the Great in
Oliver Stone's Alexander and also played alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law
in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, a science-fiction thriller set in
1930s New York City. Both films were box office disappointments however, Jolie
was a huge success with Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) the film in which she
played an assassin posing as an ordinary housewife. While working on the film,
she met Brad Pitt, who became her partner.
