Alison Doody

Alison Doody, born 11 November 1966 in Ireland is a model and actress. Alison Doody made her feature film debut as a Bond model with the film A View to a Kill, (1985). Then she starred as a character in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989. Doody played Nazi sympathetic archaeologist Elsa Schneider. The other roles she played include Siobhan Donavan in A Prayer for the Dying (1987) Charlotte in Taffin (1988) and Rebecca Flannery in Major League II (1994). Doody was approached by a photographer and started to perform the role of a model. She then developed her career as a commercial model. Doody was adamantly against glamour and sexually explicit work. This was a policy she extended to her acting career. Doody was offered a tiny part as Jenny Flex for 1985's A View to a Kill following the fact that she was spotted by the director who cast her. Doody was listed as one of the top 12 promising young Actors of 1986 by John Willis Screen World, Volume. 38. At just 18 as she played the film, Doody was, and still is the youngest Bond girl who has appeared in a film. A Prayer for the Dying, starring Mickey Rourke in 1987, was a film from the beginning where Doody played IRA Siobhan. Doody played an unseen role as Archibald Craven's spouse Lilias during his dream, 1987's adaptation of The Secret Garden. In the Jim Henson fantasy episode The Storyteller in 1988, she played Sapsorrow along with John Hurt Dawn French Jennifer Saunders. She worked with Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Elsa Schneider, an Austrian Nazi sympathiser and a archaeologist for forensics in the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Doody was in the film alongside Sean Connery, who played Indy's father. Doody co-starred in 1991 with Jonathan Pryce opposite the British miniseries Selling Hitler, which was an inspiration for the book fraud named The Hitler Diaries. Doody later moved to Hollywood. She was chosen to replace Cybill Shepard as L'Oreal spokesperson and then went on to star opposite Charlie Sheen as Flannery, his agent and girlfriend on the film Major League II. Doody returned to acting in 2003 when she played a minuscule performance as a character in The Actors, a British comedy film The Actors, in which Michael Caine played herself at the awards ceremony. Doody was a co-star with Patrick Swayze in a 2004 television movie adaptation of King Solomon's Mines and also starred in a short called Benjamin's Struggle (2005) a pamphlet that discussed the Holocaust and also in the British TV series Waking the Dead (in a two-part episode named. Doody appeared as a character in Danny Dyer 2010's The Rapture. Later, she appeared as a guest in the medical drama of RTE The Clinic and was set to appear in a remake of the horror film The Asphyx but the project ended up being cancelled. Pam Jefferson was her character in the E4 comedy Beaver Falls for two seasons. In 2014 she starred in We Still Kill the Old Way. In November 2018 she was awarded the Almeria Tierra de Cinema Award as well as a star on the Almeria Walk of Fame.
